The must-see event of the summer is set to electrify Sydney’s spectacular harbour once again! The KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix | Sydney returns this weekend, 8-9 February 2025.
Australia SailGP Team is riding high after a thrilling victory in front of 25,000 fans in New Zealand in January as they return to home waters to race for you!
The world’s most exciting racing on water, SailGP brings high-performance sailing to the people with fast-paced, close-to-shore racing between national teams vying for a slice of the US$12.8million prize pool.
Often compared to Formula 1, but on water, SailGP is fast, furious, and fuelled by cutting-edge innovation. The identical F50 foiling catamarans can reach blistering speeds of 100 km/h, making the action unmissable.
Sydney is stop three on the 2025 Rolex SailGP Championship. Following its success in New Zealand, the Aussie team will be looking to dominate on home waters amongst an expanded 12-boat fleet, SailGP’s biggest in history.
Limited tickets remain including all-inclusive Shark Island tickets for Saturday and Sunday, BYOB flags to view from the exclusion zone on your very own boat or a behind-the-scenes party to kick off the weekend on Friday night at Dockside.
THE COURSE
SailGP races take place in all conditions, making each event unpredictable and thrilling. The Sydney racecourse, bound by Bradleys Head, Point Piper, Vaucluse, and Shark Island, offers some of the most dramatic stadium-style viewing in the series. With multiple course configurations possible, strategy is key. The race committee finalises the layout just minutes before the start, ensuring peak excitement from the very first reach.
NEW TECHNOLOGY FOR SEASON 5
SailGP continues to push the boundaries of innovation. After nearly two years of testing, SailGP introduced its new high-speed titanium T-foils to the entire F50 fleet ahead of racing in Auckland earlier this year.
New for 2025, SailGP’s enhanced AI-driven analytics and cloud-based data sharing make racing more immersive than ever. Every boat is fitted with thousands of sensors collecting real-time data, giving teams and fans unparalleled insights into performance. In its ongoing commitment to sustainability, the league has further reduced its carbon footprint by optimising remote technology support and minimising travel-related emissions.
