The Whiskey Project Group (TWPG), a leading global manufacturer of next-generation multi-mission reconnaissance and tactical watercraft is continuing to expand its manufacturing footprint along the New South Wales coastline, with the addition of the former Moda boats site in Newcastle.
The veteran-founded specialist in tactical watercraft manufacturing is expanding its operations with a new site at Newcastle, Australia’s oldest export port. This development will boost TWPG’s manufacturing capacity in New South Wales by an impressive 125 per cent.
The 1,024-square-metre advanced manufacturing facility in Newcastle marks a significant step in TWPG’s ongoing expansion along the New South Wales coast, complementing its established presence in Sydney (Belrose), Gosford, Morisset, and Yamba.
Over the past year, TWPG has significantly strengthened the local manufacturing sector by investing in highly skilled jobs and expanding its operations. With a workforce increase of over 45 per cent, the company has enhanced its Australian industrial footprint, driving economic growth and creating future-focused, high-skilled employment opportunities.
The new Newcastle site’s existing manufacturing asset base will transition from building recreational watercraft to building commercial platforms for Naiad, the SES and the Australian Navy.
With this investment, TWPG is further enhancing its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, cutting-edge technologies, and highly skilled workforce, driving growth across its Trans-Tasman end-to-end maritime design, engineering, manufacturing, and sustainment capabilities.
Darren Schuback, Chief Executive Officer of TWPG said, “we are excited to be designing and building, safer and more fit for purpose watercraft based on our Group’s extensive architectural, engineering and manufacturing expertise, whilst also supporting local jobs and continuing to expand our supply chain.”
“TWPG is continuing its investment in local manufacturing by growing our operations into the industrial heartland of Newcastle creating secure jobs, building local capability to connect into global supply chains and putting Australia at the forefront of advanced manufacturing.”
“TWPG is investing in skilled, secure and well-paid jobs positioning New South Wales as a world-leading shipbuilder and advanced manufacturer,” said Mr Schuback.
