The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew airlifted a diver last Saturday after an incident in Moreton Bay.
LifeFlight was tasked at 11.50am after an EPIRB was activated with the multi-agency search involving the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and Coast Guard.
It’s believed a woman in her 20s was injured while spearfishing when her left leg made contact with a boat propeller.
Boaties pulled her aboard the vessel and administered first aid before she was transferred to a larger boat nearby and met by the Coast Guard.
She was then brought to Moreton Island where the LifeFlight helicopter was waiting.
The LifeFlight critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic treated the patient for significant leg injuries.
She was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
