Vale John Owen Speedie
It is with sadness that we report the passing of John Speedie.
John was part of the Mercury family for a long time.
He was an original Mariner employee from when they first came on the market and then joined the Mercury team originally in as the International Sales Manager looking after the South Pacific region.
During that time his wife passed away and he had two young girls that he needed to raise. He gave up the travel and spent his time located in the Melbourne office and was charged with all the Mercruiser business dealing with all the OEM’s and the dealer network within the Australian market, a position he excelled at.
Speeds as he was universally called, had a very dry sense of humour and was well liked and respected as a colleague and in the Mercruiser roll.
He retired in his mid 60’s and spent the next few years part-time repairing golf carts, and then a stint putting together push bikes for a local retailer.
He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was father to Narelle and Justine and their partners Nick & Jay. Grandfather of Mitchel, Jade, Alexandra, Charlotte, James and Claudia.
John passed away just short a few days short of his 82nd birthday.
A friend to many who will never be forgotten.
