Day1 – Managing Lithium
The Marinas24 International Conference and Trade Exhibition is just around the corner, and with over 370 delegates already registered, it promises to be an exciting event.
This year’s conference program features one of the best speaker line-ups yet, with sessions designed to inspire industry professionals and capitalise on the strength of the industry.
The Managing Lithium session is one of the highlights of the conference and will feature a panel of industry experts including Lyndon Turner, CEO of Nautilus Marine Insurance, Mike Harvey CMM from East Coast Marina, Matt Ruwald of Allmarine Power Solutions, Murray Nystrom, Director of Australian Forensic, and Mark Halverson, Executive Manager State Fire Safety Section at Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES).
The use of Lithium-ion batteries has grown exponentially in the maritime industry but with their use has also increased the risk to marina facilities. This session will provide information on the different types of batteries, the importance of battery connections, battery chemistry, and the rules marinas should have in place. Additionally, the session will address response considerations if an incident involving lithium occurs.
Day1 – Innovation Showcase
The Innovation Showcase plays an important role in providing the industry with new solutions to existing problems. The format of this year’s Innovation Showcase at Marinas24 also allows for smaller businesses, who may not have the resources to exhibit, to have their innovations exposed to the broader marina industry.
Chaired by Phil Wardale, Secretary of NZMOA & Director of Wardale Consulting, The Innovation Showcase will be held as the last session on Day One of the Conference (Monday 27 May) at 4pm.
Up to five innovations will be given the opportunity to participate with each business delivering a punchy seven-minute presentation to the Marinas24 audience. A live poll of delegates will be taken to determine the Innovation Showcase winner for 2024.
Here are the Innovation Showcase finalists:
- SandMap
- The Serial Cleaners (Poralu)
- SET Marine Electrical
- ROVing Intelligence
