HOOKED ON YAMAHA – Boyne Tannum HookUp Success

Yamaha Motor Australia’s marine division enjoyed another successful year as a major sponsor of one of  Australia’s biggest family fishing festivals, the Boyne Tannum HookUp. The annual event, held on and around the picturesque Boyne Island on Queensland’s Central Coast, is a must-do fishing event for anglers of all skill levels, and the 2023 event held in April attracted more than 3000 entries.

For over a decade, Yamaha Motor’s involvement with the Boyne Tannum HookUp has helped to convert Boyne Island’s Bray Park area into a fishing mecca. The ideal location provides entrants with a wide range of fishing options to suit all on and off-water experience levels.

As the event’s official engine sponsor, Yamaha Motor Australia’s ongoing partnership with Queensland boat-building company SeaJay Boats once again delivered a host of fantastic prizes. Several Yamaha-powered Seajayboats were up for grabs – including a Yamaha F150-powered centre console offshore rig. In addition, Yamaha’s Land Mobility team catered to the landlubbers, adding a Yamaha WR450 Enduro machine and a PW50 fun bike to the prize pool. A Yamaha generator from the Powerproducts team was also added.

Marine staff from the Brisbane Yamaha office were on hand throughout the event to fly the Yamaha flag with a large display in the expo area. Highlights for competition participants and visiting public included the Yamaha Supertank, a Red Emperor photo booth for an Instagram-worthy snapshot holding a trophy-sized fish, and a large LED screen showcasing Yamaha’s marine products – including the amazing Hel Master EX system. Everyone participating in the event left with either a fabulous prize or a fantastic experience.

Grant Binskin Head of Marketing Marine Division at Yamaha Motor Australia said the event always delivers a special atmosphere. “It’s exciting to see such a huge turnout, and it’s always a real buzz to see so many Yamaha outboard motors, both new and old, powering competitors boats inshore and offshore. It was also great to connect with some true Yamaha enthusiasts on the Yamaha stand and hear about their experiences and passion for our product.”

While the community event aims to bring together friends, family, businesses, supporters, and sponsors from all around the country, The beneficiaries of the not-for-profit organisation are a series of chosen charities, as well as the small town that hosts the annual event.

With the 2023 event one of the most successful in the competition’s history, Yamaha Motor Australia’s Marine division is already discussing its sponsorship and support of the 2024 event.
