Entries for the Australian Yachting Championships are now open, with the prestigious event set to be held from February 17-23, 2023 at Port Lincoln Yacht Club (PLYC) in South Australia.
In 2023, the event will be held alongside the famous Peter Teakle Wines Adelaide to Port Lincoln Race and the Teakle Classic Lincoln Week Regatta off the stunning South Australian coast.
The event is returning to South Australia for the first time since 2002, when Stephen Ainsworth’s Swan 48 Loki won a closely fought event hosted by the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron and the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia.
After a COVID-impacted lay-off in 2021, the Australian Yachting Championships returned with a bang in 2022 as a part of Hamilton Island Race Week. Alive (Division Zero), Caro (Division 1) and Ikon (Division 2) were among the winners of the Championships hosted by Hamilton Island Yacht Club.
This year’s event will incorporate both the Adelaide to Port Lincoln Yacht Race and Lincoln Week Regatta events, and will be scored in the seven race series consisting of the Adelaide to Port Lincoln Race and the six race Lincoln Week Regatta.
The Adelaide to Port Lincoln is already a race favourite for many regular Australian Yachting Championships entrants, with this year’s event set to be one of the biggest.
