New Rally Format announced for Seawind & Corsair Moreton Bay Event

Multihull Central, distributors for Seawind Catamarans and Corsair Marine are pleased to announce a new format cruising rally for boat owners and crew to explore Moreton Bay and in support of charity Sailability.

In 2025 the MULTIHULL CENTRAL Seawind & Corsair Moreton Bay Rally will be a rally format rather than a regatta format. Most importantly we are taking the opportunity to partner with a volunteer organisation that is close to all our hearts – Sailability offers a fun, safe and welcoming environment where people with disability (our sailors) are accepted and encouraged to participate in, and enjoy the sport of sailing, and other on-water activities.

The event will be a rally format sailing Moreton Bay on the 28th to 30th of March 2025. The programme for the event is:

  • Friday afternoon – Test and Tune sailing in Waterloo Bay, we hope to have a professional sailor on the water to observe boats undertaking a course and to provide their observations and guidance to participants that evening.
  • Friday PM– Dinner (make your own arrangements) at RQYS followed by a presentation and Question and Answer session from our Sailing professional.
  • Saturday – Cruise in company to a location (weather dependant) where we will have a sundowners dinner. As this is a rally and not a regatta crews are free to use any of the sails that they choose, this will be particularly relevant to the following competition, a test of sailing ability and tactical decisions during the day.

Two competitions will be run around the concept of Navigators Nightmare:

  • Longest Distance sailed. Crews wishing to compete in this event will commence a track at the start at 0930 with the longest distance sailed and the boat arriving at the finish location on or before finish time being declared the winner
  • Longest intermediate sailed. Crews wishing to compete in this event will commence a track at 1100 with the longest distance sailed between 1100 and 1300 and the boat arriving at the finish location on or before finish time being declared the winner.

Sunday, cruise in company with a lunch time raft up.

There will be numerous fund-raising activities for SAILABILITY:

  • Raffles of excellent prizes provided by sponsors
  • Arbitrary fines for dubious behaviour on and off the water
  • Reverse prizes (you win – you pay a donation) for the various competitions. The competitions include the short and long navigators nightmare, best dressed boat and crew.
  • Entry Fees
  • And the grand prize will be for the boat that raises the most money as a direct donation to SAILABILITY
