Marinas24 – more to look forward to

Day 1 – The Art of War: Win & Retain Your People

Marinas24 is less a weeks away! It’s the perfect time to take a closer look at the Conference Program. Among the diverse line-up of keynote speakers, the “The Art of War: Win & Retain Your People” session promises to be one of the highlights of the conference.

In today’s landscape, with the employment rate plummeting and Gen Z entering the workforce, traditional methods of staff retention no longer have the same impact.

The aftermath of COVID has reshaped attitudes towards work, with remote productivity proving its worth and the quest for work-life balance taking centre stage.

To navigate the talent shortage, companies must prioritise staff training and investment while cultivating a culture of engagement tied to the company’s purpose. Effective leaders can attract and retain top talent by sharing compelling narratives about their company’s mission and trajectory.

Will Farmer, Managing Director at Dale Carnegie, will share his expertise in leadership and training during this session. William has personally coached over 35,000 individuals toward success, with a particular focus on strategic development for CEOs and GMs. Among his esteemed clientele in the marine industry are Gold Coast City Marina and the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron.

One Dale Carnegie Public Course will be awarded to a lucky attendee who submits their feedback form on the day. The course is valued at $3,500.

Day 1 – Marketing Marinas

The first day of the conference will feature a compelling session on ‘Marketing Marinas’ chaired by Karen Baldwin, who brings a wealth of experience from her roles in various Yacht Clubs across Australia. Karen brings her knowledge of the marina industry and marketing into sharp focus with a panel of experts who will walk delegates through making the most of their marketing strategies.

The panel of marina marketing experts including, Nic Douglas from Sunset Media & Sailor Girl will describe various media channels and how to use them to your best advantage. Andra Bite from Andra Bite Consulting will provide an outline of leveraging sponsorship and public relations to benefit big or small events for both on and off-water and Zoe Hawkins from Wilde Media NZ will present some cost-effective marketing communication strategies, particularly for those with small teams and small budgets.

This session is a ‘must’ for those in the industry looking to grow their presence and reach within the market. Maximising marketing and communication channels can provide better brand awareness, better customer relationships, and improved income and occupancy.

Day 1 – Business of Boatyards

One of the highlights of the conference is the Business of Boatyards session on the first day, chaired by Sydney-based boatyard veteran Lorraine Yates from White Bay 6 Marine Park.

This session will feature a powerhouse panel of industry experts including Irina Atasanova, Australia Sales Manager, Yacht Coatings AkzoNobel, Luke McCaul, Director, Zeal Marinas, and Nick McGuire, General Sales Manager, The Yard, Brisbane.

The panel will discuss emerging and future technology for underwater protective coatings in response to environmental demands. The session will examine the challenges of increased industry competition and explore creative ideas for boatyards to diversify revenue sources. Also in focus will be an examination of the journey through the boatyard from the customer perspective, and enhancing the customer experience. It’s these things that make this session a vital component of any successful boatyard.

Day 2 – Alternative Marina Power Systems

On the second day of the conference, join us for the Alternative Marina Power Systems session led by John Hogan CMP, CEO of Superior Jetties, featuring Chris Cudlipp, CEO of Seavolt, and Daryn Stocks, Managing Director of EPC Solar.

We will explore the impact of alternative power systems on docking facilities and their integration with renewable energy sources. With the upcoming increase in electric boat numbers, the big question is: Where will the power come from? Our panel will delve into opportunities for marinas to make better use of renewable energy on land and water and will showcase a real-life example of potential improvements.

This session is essential for industry professionals who are looking to balance marina needs with new types of propulsion requiring new infrastructure, address inadequate supply from the grid, and explore opportunities for marinas to harness renewable generation on land and water.
