The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has published a further three tender opportunities today on AusTender for asset maintenance work on its aids to navigation network.
The network includes some of the country’s most iconic and beloved lighthouses, buoys, beacons and more – all of which help contribute to safe navigation in our waters, protecting seafarers and our precious marine and coastal environments from shipping.
These three opportunities relate to the remaining regions (New South Wales, South Australia, and Northern Territory) in the new regionalised model for maintenance service delivery on the network, bringing the total opportunities for Australian asset maintenance businesses to 8.
Another tender for central technical support and logistics will be released shortly.
“More Australian businesses than ever before now have an opportunity to secure this government contract work,” AMSA’s Executive Director Response Mark Morrow said.
“Forget your bricks and mortar government buildings, these assets are anything but ordinary. Some of our lighthouses are close to 200-years-old. Our beacons and buoys meanwhile feature some of the latest technology, all designed to keep seafarers and our seas, safe.
“For Australian businesses, this stream of work is a rare opportunity to diversify their portfolios and upskill their staff. Support will be on offer, particularly for our regional contractors, from both our in-house experts and the separate provider we onboard for technical support and logistics.”
Mr Morrow said interested businesses were strongly encouraged to download the tender packages from AusTender.
