Luxurious furnishings, décor items, tableware, furniture and equipment are a major part of enjoying time spent on our boats, and the means of personalising interiors and deck spaces.
While undergoing routine maintenance or a refit project onboard at The Boat Works, Boat Owners, Captains and Crew can explore the premium collection of internationally renowned brands at Ultra Collection.
Ultra Collection is the one-stop shop with a maritime touch for all your marine decorating and design needs, including Ultra Anchors, Fendertex, Marine Business, EUDE Design and other globally sourced marine products.
The on-site boutique is located in The Boat Works’ Superyacht yard and offers a spacious showroom with adjoining warehouse. The showroom stands as the preferred destination for boat owners and interior designers offering an unparalleled selection of accoutrements across every make and model of vessels.
The Ultra Collection team provides clients with personalised, high-quality service. They offer flexibility, convenience, and a world of products to upgrade vessel interiors and onboard spaces.
At the helm are Joanne and David Whyte, who with their daughters, Emily and Holly, run Ultra Collection and are experts in working with owners to source the pieces that make a boat a tranquil and individual home-away-from-home.
The Whytes took over Ultra Marine three years ago, inheriting a stable of quality products, a reliable supplier network and database of loyal clients. In those three years, they rebranded as Ultra Collection and added several new brands, including Recaro helm chairs – developed from the famous auto racing seats – Mia Marin furniture from Turkey, Marine Business tableware and accessories from Spain, Al-ive personal and kitchen products, and most recently, becoming the exclusive Queensland agents for Sheets Ahoy Australia.
“Ultra anchors and Fendertex Fenders from France were our main products, then we gradually added galley wear, indoor and outdoor cushions and furniture and now, we’re the official Queensland agents working with Sheets Ahoy Australia to provide custom bed linen to clients,” Joanne commented.
Along with the standard range, which spans around 10 different sizes for all shapes of beds, Ultra now offers clients completely bespoke bed linen from the pioneers in superyacht and marine products.
Founded by Lyndel Rothschild in 2000, Sheets Ahoy Australia filled a niche and an appetite for purpose-designed products which met specific marine interior requirements.
With three decades of experience in the fashion and manufacturing industry, Lyndel applied her creativity and flair to interior decorating for yachts.
Working with her daughter Amy, and a team of skilled machinists in a Sydney-based workshop, Lyndel has devised a template system that has made it possible for boat owners globally to access the made-to-measure custom luxury they desire on board.
“Boat owners are looking for the same luxury and quality they have at home,” Lyndel stated.
“No two boat mattresses are the same, therefore buying ready-made sheets that fit properly can be frustrating. We custom make sheets based on the exact shape of your boat beds so they will fit like a glove from a selection of fabrics to suit your specific needs.”
The Sheets Ahoy Australia range comprises fitted bottom sheets, fitted top sheets, shaped flat top sheets, pillowcases and shaped doona covers. Sheeting options are Egyptian Cotton Sateen (400 thread count), Crisp Cotton Percale (600tc) and Luxury Cotton Sateen (900tc), in various colours.
“The neater the beds can look in a cabin, the better. Apart from the quality and craftsmanship, the fit is exceptional, right down to the mattress protectors and toppers, and bedspreads,” she added.
“Every job is a unique piece of art.”
At Ultra Collection, Joanne is particularly excited about this addition to their repertoire, saying “Once people see the difference, they won’t bother with ordinary retail sheets and bedding.
“Over the past 20+ years, Sheets Ahoy Australia has created products for more than 10,000 boats – which is impressive testament to their quality and customer satisfaction.”
Satisfied clients are the heart and soul of any business, particularly Ultra Collection, for whom the family is central to their identity and their work ethic.
Daniella and Matt Vicchi, owners of a Fairline 68 Squadron called “Villa Mare”, first met Joanne and David during the refit of their boat at The Boat Works.
“From the moment we walked into their showroom, we felt at home. It was a warm, welcoming environment, Joanne, David and Holly were attentive, and nothing was too much trouble,” said Daniella.
The Vicchis bought a teak outdoor setting for their boat, some lightweight Fendertex fenders, and various items for the interiors.
“The Ultra showroom has so much in stock, and if they don’t have it, they’ll source it and offer you plenty of options to choose from. We went from customers to friends, to part of the family, talking about life, boating, everything!”
Joanne agrees. “That’s what makes this industry so special. It’s a beautiful space to work in. It’s creative, the people are passionate about their boats. We bond over boating and our love of beautiful things, and our customers do become family.”
