The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has announced that it is on Diversity Council Australia’s (DCA) list of inclusive employers for 2023-2024.
Each year, Australian organisations have the opportunity to participate in DCA’s Inclusive Employers Index, which enables them to measure diversity and inclusion in their workforce and compare findings to the DCA’s national benchmarks.
AMSA CEO Mick Kinley celebrated receiving the designation for the second year running, having also made the list last year when AMSA first participated in the process.
“Being named again as an inclusive employer is testament to the work we have put in to truly embed inclusive values across all levels of the organisation,” he said.
“We continue to prioritise diversity, inclusion and belonging through delivering on Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and Action Plans.
“Today being the first day of Inclusion at Work Week, we’re celebrating the strength that diversity and inclusion brings, whilst acknowledging the work that needs to be done across our organisation and the wider maritime industry.”
To be deemed eligible as an Inclusive Employer 2023-2024, participating DCA members must:
- invite at least 60% of their employees to participate in the DCA survey
- show that they are active and committed to inclusion by achieving results that exceed the DCA’s national benchmarks on at least five out of six of the following measures: awareness; engagement; inclusive organisational climate; inclusive leadership; inclusive team; exclusion.
