Zipwake has announced that Björn Ingemanson, the former President and CEO of Volvo Penta, has been appointed the new Chairman of the Board, effective August 1, 2023. Björn’s long track record in the marine industry, strong financial background, and warm personality make him perfectly suited for the position.
Björn, a veteran of the marine industry, secured strong growth at the Swedish global engine and propulsion system supplier Volvo Penta during his almost nine-year tenure (2012–2020) as President and CEO. Björn will now leverage his experience and effective growth strategies to take Zipwake into the future.
“I was drawn to Zipwake because it’s an innovative company with superior products, and I believe it has enormous potential for growth, both in Sweden and internationally, “says Björn Ingemanson.
“Björn is the ideal person for this role,” says Jörgen Holmgren, CEO of Zipwake. “His experience from the marine industry and international network of contacts, combined with his natural leadership abilities, make him the perfect advisor for us.”
Since leaving Volvo Penta, Björn has served as a Senior Advisor and Certified Board Member for several other Swedish companies in the marine industry and beyond.
A dedicated boater and avid sailor, Björn reached the rank of Patrol Boat Commander while serving in the Swedish military. He now owns a Nimbus W9 day cruiser equipped with an interceptor-based dynamic trim control system from Zipwake.
“Everyone who works at Zipwake has an interest in boats, and this is essential,” says Jörgen Holmgren. “It’s an industry that thrives on dedication and having your heart in the business – not just on facts and figures.”
Increased brand awareness and continued profitable growth are top priorities for the newly appointed Chairman of the Board. To achieve these goals, Björn intends to continue Zipwake’s digital marketing transformation, increase the company’s presence and visibility at key boat shows, and work closely together with distributors to engage with shipyards, boatbuilders and dealers.
“The biggest challenge going forward is to get customers to understand the immense benefits of switching from conventional trim tabs to Zipwake interceptors,” he says, speaking from his own experience.
The appointment of Björn Ingemanson as Chairman of the Board further strengthens Zipwake’s leadership and positions the company to take a confident next step.
“My focus will be on supporting both the management and the organization on our growth journey. “Zipwake has a bright future ahead and I look forward to being part of this innovative and marine industry pioneering team” Björn says.
