Williamstown Port Area Plan
BIA Victoria and the Port of Williamstown Action Group ( PoWAG) are encouraging interested parties to get involved regarding the Parks Victoria plan to guide the future use and management of the Williamstown local port area. To do so you can click here.
The plan sets out the priorities that will guide future investment ensuring the local port continues to be a jewel in the crown of its community and thriving regional maritime and boating destination for Melbourne’s west.
Focusing on the on-water components, the plan addresses issues and challenges in the area, including the future of the five piers and jetties (Workshops Pier, Commissioners Jetty, Boyd Street Pier, Gem Pier and Ferguson Street Pier), access channel sedimentation, and provision for large vessels and other uses.
There has been a lot of consultation work done already as part of developing the plan including talking to Traditional Owners and holding focus groups with key stakeholders and users to understand what is important, how the area is currently being used and what improvements need to be made.
Parks Victoria are now inviting wider community feedback on the draft plan to help shape the development of the final plan, which is expected to be released later in the year.
