Blues on Broadbeach and Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show – between them, they attract almost a quarter of a million people, inject close to $400M into the Gold Coast economy, and bring a whole lot of fun to the most thrilling city in the Sunshine State.
The Gold Coast is arguably Australia’s most exciting city – with something thrilling to see and do every day of the year. However, there are ten special days in May when worlds collide to create an event extravaganza, attracting the who’s who of the music and marine industries, and setting the GC alight with a host of enthralling events and entertainment.
Blues on Broadbeach (BoB) 2023, taking place across four days from May 18 to 21, and Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS), May 25-28, have been two of the Gold Coast’s most celebrated and highly anticipated events for decades.
Together, BoB, now in its 22nd year, and SCIBS in its 34th year bring an influx of visitors with an economic impact on the Gold Coast in the hundreds of millions. More importantly, they cement the Gold Coast’s reputation as a premiere events and tourism destination.
Mulpha Events, General Manager Johan Hasser said his team is exceptionally proud of the value, prestige and entertainment the Show brings to the Gold Coast each year, and SCIBS 2023 would continue to delight and entertain event goers with show stopping moments, luxury experiences, and exhilarating displays.
“We are thrilled to be welcoming guests and exhibitors back to the beautiful location of Sanctuary Cove for our 34th annual event,” Mr Hasser said.
“This year’s program of events promises something for everyone. As well as the incredible marine displays, there will be food, bars, street entertainment and a family friendly kid’s area.
“The team is especially looking forward to showcasing a host of exciting new product launches on water and within the Sanctuary Cove precinct.”
“The fact that Blues and SCIBS take place on consecutive weekends is wonderful for the Gold Coast, and we do know there is a cross over in visitation, with many people coming for both events.”
Major Events Gold Coast (MEGC) produces and delivers the award-winning Blues on Broadbeach and is a major supporter of SCIBS. CEO Jan McCormick said having these two hugely popular events a week apart is great for the local economy and for visitors.
“To have a quarter of a million people visit the Gold Coast over a fortnight is fantastic and a big percentage of those visitors are coming from interstate or overseas and are staying multiple nights here, some will stay on for both events, and that translates to an economic windfall for the city,” said Ms McCormick.
“For visitors they have the opportunity to have an extended holiday and experience both these world-class events one after the other in one of the Australia’s most beautiful beachside destinations.”
Blues on Broadbeach 2023, will take place across 16 stages, including both outdoor and
indoor venues across the Broadbeach precinct, encompassing four blocks of the Broadbeach precinct with stages in the streets, parks and venues.

SCIBS, presented by Mulpha Events, will feature over 330 exhibitions, 600 boats and 1000 marine lifestyle products in a showstopping line-up of exhibitors across everything from superyachts and trailer boats to the latest marine gadgets and must-have technology, as well as a raft of exciting global and Australian product launches.
