$30 million Stage 5 has begun, doubling the size of the Superyacht yard.
The Boat Works is known for its commitment of delivering high quality marine infrastructure, which in turn attracts more boats and creates jobs.
Continuing the momentum, the Longhurst family will add further investment into the marine precinct with major construction comprising the addition of 50 percent more sheds and hardstand to the now three-year-old Superyacht Yard.
With foundations piled and concrete being poured, completion is scheduled for the end of 2023.
2023 kicked off with the construction of three new workshops, now completed and have welcomed new marine professionals to add to the existing 80 on-site partners across The Boat Works’ two adjoining facilities covering a total area of 55-acres.
Stage 5 will involve an additional $30 million investment in more sheds and hardstand space along with a new haul out machine joining the current fleet of five.
Construction has started on a bespoke, two-storey Commercial Centre on the waterfront (adjacent Kokomo Kitchen & Bar) which will provide offices and showrooms for new marine service providers and yacht sales businesses.
The one-of-a-kind Commercial Centre has been purpose-designed and will complement the VIP Captains’ Lounge.
“Building on the success of the superyacht facility that we opened in January 2020, we are adding more infrastructure for tenants and customers,” explains CEO and owner, Tony Longhurst.
“There is a huge demand to accommodate more boats undercover and our 70 sheds have reached capacity. We are proud to offer new opportunities for growth for all our marine service partners within the facility. Their success in turn enhances our operational efficiency.
“The Boat Works has evolved to provide two world-class yards with high-end facilities and lifting equipment, while maintaining our focus on customer service. We are proud of our reputation for exceptional internal culture and going above and beyond for our customers.
“By this time next year, the Superyacht Yard will have doubled in size.”
David Good, CEO AIMEX-Superyacht Australia said “The facilities are well and truly needed – superyacht visitation and the domestic market keep on booming.
“Since Jan 2020, the Australian charter yacht fleet has grown from 59 charter vessels to now, 120! And in the lead up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympics, there will more demand than ever, especially for refit and maintenance facilities. We commend Tony for his investment and his vision.”
