Superior Jetties has recently completed a stunning expansion of C Pier at Sanctuary Cove Marina on the Gold Coast. The scope of works included a 145m x 2.5m wide main walkway plus 4 x 25m fingers, 9 x 20m fingers and an 18m finger. In addition, service pedestals, fire hose reels and fire pedestals with manual call points and hydrants were also added.
A tried and proven commercial marina solution, Superior’s Elite pontoon system was again chosen as it perfectly suits this protected harbour. The heavy-duty pontoon arrangement is constructed using a reinforced 50Mpa concrete deck with an average thickness of 125mm and a solid monolithic flotation system protected by a tough and flexible polyethylene skin.
The concrete pontoons are connected by purpose built elastomeric hinges allowing the units to expand and contract with the natural movement from wave action within the marina.
The pontoons are smartly finished with a customised aluminium waler that incorporates a unique press-in bump rubber fender which eliminates the need for screws. The waler also allows for adjustable positioning of pile brackets, hinges and fingers. These units require little to no on-going maintenance.
