Proposed 12-month extension to current regulations
The Water (Lake Eildon Recreation Area) (Houseboats) Regulations 2013 are scheduled to sunset (expire) on 12 June 2023. DELWP is proposing to keep the current regulations in place for another 12 months. This will allow more time to test greywater treatment devices and fill important knowledge gaps before drafting the new regulations.
DELWP will start the formal process to seek an extension early next year. This is because of the Victorian election: the extension needs to be approved by the Minister for Water and Premier so the process must wait until after the new government has been sworn in.
The extension would mean the new regulations would come into effect in June 2024 and the current regulations will continue to apply until then. It also means that the draft regulations
and the regulatory impact statement will now be available for community for review and feedback in late 2023.
