Marine Jobs collaborates with BIA Victoria at Melbourne Boat Show
The Melbourne Boat Show returned to the Docklands in October this year after more than three years of hiatus due to Covid restrictions. With positive feedback post the show, it is clear the demand for boats, boating and the boating lifestyle continues to be very strong. Record crowds were recorded with boat-hungry attendees keen to adopt the recreational marine, outdoor lifestyle.
Boating Industry Association Victoria (BIAV) received an enormous amount of direct feedback, with CEO Steve Walker commenting, “It has been really pleasing to get this great feedback. Exhibitor satisfaction is KPI number one at the end of the day and this feedback makes me think that it’s been achieved and maybe even exceeded.”
Marine Jobs representatives Shane Wilson, Members Program Manager, Boating Industry Association (BIA); Adam Chanter, Maritime Industry Skills Advisor; and Nick Thorowgood, Marketing Co-Ordinator, AIMEX, collaborated with Mary Papantoniou, Administration and Membership Manager, BIAV to establish a dedicated Marine Jobs stand for the full duration of the boat show. Working together as a team they were able to provide career information to over 250 potential new workers for the marine sector further supporting the positive interest in the boating sector and marine industry overall.
Marine Jobs has been created in partnership with the peak national associations in response to the national skills challenges affecting the marine sector. Chanter commented, “Marine Jobs is a coordinated effort of the five peak national associations in alignment with the directive of our more local, regional industry associations. Our approach is to promote local careers that can connect to a global opportunity within the industry’s superyacht, commercial or defence supply chain sections.
“Marine Jobs is a lot more than just seek.com.au for the marine sector. The dedicated team is working on a broader strategy to acquire new talent through an increase of online and face-to-face presence that aims to support the development of our regional workforces across Australia.
“Marine Jobs looks forward to supporting BIAV with their other upcoming events and regional industry associations to address the skills shortage the marine sector is currently experiencing,” added Chanter.
Marine Jobs. Local career. Global opportunities.
