Geelong’s Festival of Sails will celebrate the 180th anniversary of its iconic Passage Race between Melbourne and Geelong from January 26 to 29, 2023.
The Passage Race generally attracts more than 200 entries, with yachts of all classes starting off Williamstown and racing to Geelong on Victoria’s Port Phillip in the regatta’s opening challenge.
Australia’s oldest sporting event and the biggest keelboat regatta in the southern hemisphere, the Festival of Sails is a favourite among sailors and spectators who flock to Corio Bay from all over the country to take part in the regatta and enjoy the festivities along Geelong’s waterfront.
The 2023 event will also host the Melges 29 National Championship, a double-handed racing category, and a fleet of TP52 race yachts. It also coincides with the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race.
