France set new SailGP speed record of 99.94 KM/H on crazy day in Saint-Tropez

The France SailGP Team has broken the SailGP racing speed record, hitting 99.94 km/h during the third Fleet Race of the Range Rover France Sail Grand Prix | Saint-Tropez.

Incredibly strong wind speeds – surpassing 40 km/h during racing – resulted in the record-breaking performance by the French at their home event.

Great Britain had earlier set a new speed record of 99 km/h in the opening race of the day, before Quentin Delapierre’s team’s record-setting showing just a short while later.

Remarkably, due to the conditions, every single team surpassed the 90 km/h mark – with Denmark’s breakneck 94 km/h the lowest top speed of any team on Saturday.

France’s top speed helped them clinch a second-place finish in the third Fleet Race of the day, which took them up to fourth in the event rankings – just one point behind third-place Australia heading into Sunday’s second day of racing.
