The Boating Industry Association (BIA) hosted a Careers Day for schools across NSW on the opening day of Sydney International Boat Show.
The BIA report that around 300 students came through the show to learn about opportunities that the boating industry has to offer from a panel of industry figures as part of Q&A sessions before being invited to explore the show.
In addition the BIA, along with industry colleagues from Superyacht Australia and Marina Industries Association, showcased the wide range of roles and career options available at the Marine Jobs stand inside the Halls. With the aim of encouraging new recruits, from would-be-apprentices to seasoned mariners looking for a new challenge, the show was a great opportunity to chat about taking that next step or how to get involved in the industry.
These events complement BIA’s ongoing activities including a busy school visits program, work placement facilitation and apprenticeship recruitment support, which are helping meet some part of the workforce needs of the industry.
