  • Applications now open for 27th round of the Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme
  • Up to $1.5 million in funding for recreational boating facility projects across WA
  • More than 450 projects granted approximately $47.9 million in the previous 26 rounds

Applications are now open for up to $1.5 million worth of grants for recreational boating facilities across Western Australia through the Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme.

Eligible authorities including local governments, Government agencies and statutory authorities with responsibility for managing public boating facilities can now apply for funding.

Funds are available for the planning, construction or upgrade of boat launching ramps, jetties, moorings, breakwaters and new channels related to a public recreational boating facility.

Land-based infrastructure at public boating facilities, such as trailer parking areas, toilets and boating signage, are also eligible.

Up to 75 per cent of the project’s cost is available, with the maximum grant set at $750,000.

Implemented in 1998 to improve public recreational boating facilities, the scheme has seen 456 projects funded over 26 grants rounds worth approximately $47.9 million.

The round closes on September 1, with application forms and more information available at https://www.transport.wa.gov.au/rbfs

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said; “We are spoilt for choice in Western Australia with easy access to beautiful beaches and rivers for boating.

“Recreational boating is a popular pastime and it’s important we have top quality facilities available for the community.

“I would encourage eligible organisations to apply for funding through the Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme, with $1.5 million worth of grants available.

“The scheme has fostered a close partnership with local authorities to build new facilities where needed, and also modernise and expand existing ramps and other infrastructure that benefits not only the recreational fleet, but in many cases, the wider community.”
