Maritimo advertising a host of career opportunities amid growing global demand

For nearly 20 years Australian luxury motor yacht manufacturer, Maritimo has been a brand synonymous with industry leading design, engineering excellence, and exemplary level of build quality.

Maritimo has built this long reputation as one of the boating industry’s most iconic luxury motor yacht brands with a team of dedicated individuals who thrive on their attention to detail, craftsmanship, and willingness to strive to build the world’s highest quality motor yachts.

Maritimo is welcoming up to 60 new craftspeople in the first half of this year in order to meet the unprecedented demand of its heralded lineage of Australian built long range cruising motor yachts.

With orders for Maritimo’s iconic motor yachts now stretching out deep into 2024, the Gold Coast based, Australian builder is offering a highly rewarding world class working environment, built upon welcoming in likeminded, passionate, and dedicated craftspeople.

General manager Phil Candler said the size of the team would continue to grow over the next two years.

“The career pathways, and opportunities Maritimo can offer prospective employees is extremely unique to Maritimo, across a broad range of skills and trades,” he said.

Candler emphasized that the family owned and operated, Maritimo was an employer with a progressive and supportive culture, which set it apart from others in the industry.

“Maritimo is a place where our staff know all the management team by name, and we know all of them, so the environment is one which is very inclusive and fulfilling” he said.

“Maritimo is well known within the industry for its financial stability through the years, guided by a highly experienced management team with decades of experience.

“A strong forward order book for years ahead brings further certainty to direction of the company.

“We believe we are the best employment opportunity in the Australian marine industry for qualified workers or those seeking to get into the industry.”

Maritimo is based in the Gold Coast Marine Precinct at Coomera on the northern Gold Coast.

Candler said as the country’s state borders have begun to open up after the Covid-19 imposed lock-downs, it presented a great opportunity to anyone considering a shift to the Sunshine State for a better future.

“We have the Olympics coming, and property prices compared to other major cities in Australia are very affordable for families to relocate to,” he said.

“There has never been a better time to consider a shift to the Gold Coast.

“The lifestyle is unsurpassed and the opportunities immense.”

Maritimo prides itself on involving its employees in all activities of the business. As such staffers were the ones who performed the official unveiling of the new M55 and S55 motor yachts at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show last year.

Candler said Maritimo was also very focused on training, career enhancement and providing pathways for staff to grow and prosper. He said the leadership development programs and apprenticeship pathways at Maritimo were second to none.

“Our focus is on providing a financially rewarding and industry leading working environment for all our team members with an emphasis on flexibility,” he said.

“Hours of work, the individual requirements of staff around family commitments, staff incentives and recognition of a job well done are all cornerstones of the Maritimo operation.

“We have monthly awards presentations, we recognise individuals’ birthdays and achievement milestones and from the start of 2022 will be running a new “Maritimo Momentum” program for apprentices, which will cover a comprehensive range of training and empowerment disciplines.”

Peter Ferrari has been a dedicated Maritimo employee for many years. His experience and mentoring of younger staffers is invaluable.

Candler said the fact that Maritimo was also the only luxury boat manufacturer in the world to have a dedicated racing division, in both sail and power, added the element of staff getting to experience a diverse range of segments within the marine industry that they would otherwise not get to experience.

Many of Maritimo’s workforce have been with the company since its inception almost 20 years ago and others have been associated with the company’s founder Bill Barry-Cotter for periods dating nearly 60 years.

“If working out of world class manufacturing facilities, alongside a team of forward thinking, passionate craftspeople is of interest to you, we would love to hear from you,” he said.
