Riviera’s luxury vessels win customers around the globe

Riviera is being celebrated as a Queensland and national success story, after being named a finalist in the 2021 Australian Export Awards.

The Australian boat-builder with a world-class reputation produces up to 120 luxury boats every year and employs 900 people.

The Australian Export Awards showcase Australian businesses which are succeeding on the global stage in key sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, e-commerce, digital technologies, resources, health and biotechnology.

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment  Dan Tehan

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan said Australian exporters had achieved extraordinary outcomes in the past year.

“Australia is a trading nation, and the high quality of the nominations for this year’s awards demonstrate why we are a world leading exporter,” Mr Tehan said.

“Successful exporters are innovative, hard-working and versatile and their work supports jobs and other businesses in our community.”

Riviera owner, Rodney Longhurst said that over the past 41 years Riviera has launched more than 5,800 motor yachts building a fiercely loyal global family of yacht owners that are now cruising the spectacular waterways of the world.

“Our 900-strong team, including 100 apprentices based on Queensland’s Gold Coast, are all immensely proud that over 60% of our annual production is exported internationally,” Mr Longhurst said.

“Today, Riviera is regarded as one of the world’s leading luxury motor yacht builders. That’s a great achievement for our skilled and dedicated team and for Australia.”

Riviera will compete against other state finalists in the Manufacturing and Advanced Materials category, before an overall 2021 Australian Exporter of the Year is selected from category winners.

The winner will be announced in Canberra by Minister Tehan on Thursday, 25 November.
