Boat Works – Bigger Sheds now with a 20m clearance

The Boat Works has increased capacity, investing again in additional marine infrastructure that has created the largest superyacht refit sheds for the Gold Coast.

The new development offers boat owners and Captains even bigger sheds with a staggering 20-metre clearance.

Construction has not slowed down since the February 2020’s opening of the 25-acre Superyacht facility adjacent to the south boatyard.

Stage 4, spurred on by the continued demand is now well under construction in preparation to cater to superyachts, charter vessels, expedition and game boats, particularly those with several decks or game towers, and complementing the 300 tonne capacity marine travel lift.

“We are the destination for boat maintenance and have again lifted the standard for visiting boats catering to every need of Owners, Guests, Captains and Crews.” stated Tony Longhurst, owner of The Boat Works.

The 20-metre high sheds will bring the total number of controlled working environments (i.e. individual refit sheds) at The Boat Works’ facility to 58 – unrivalled in the region.

“These sheds are even larger than the super sheds built January 2020 in the superyacht yard,” said General Manager, Shane Subichin.

“The new sheds are forecast to open for the first quarter of 2022, when charter and private superyachts arrive to undertake their refinishing works, major refit projects and maintenance.”

At 20-metres in height, the new sheds ensure plenty of space for the installation of scaffold and scissor lifts at 16-metres wide x 50metres in length, ample working and storage area.

“All sheds provide excellent LED lighting, ample power for vessels and trades, drainage that is channelled into a treatment process, and commercial curtains for privacy and reduction of noise and dust pollution.

“To maintain our green reputation and responsibility we will again invest in solar array and harvest the water onsite.”

The first vessels booked in in early 2022 are a sample of lofty motor yachts such as a tri-decks, luxury commercial vessels, several flybridge cruisers and a 30-metre passagemaker.

“The beauty is that all the new super sheds benefit from the extended height, but owners can book the shed that best suits the length of their vessel.” said Shane.

“Providing a comprehensive facility teamed with a yard experience like no other. We offer variety and choice in everything at The Boat Works, including access to a collective group of over 80 marine businesses on-site and all the other marine trade professionals and contractors within the Coomera Marine precinct on our doorstep,” he added.

The positive sentiment and resultant growth in the industry is evident at The Boat Works, which has recently welcomed 15 new marine businesses to the north yard since Stage 3 opened April 2021.

The latest onsite marine partners cover all aspects of marine, including Propeller and Sterngear maintenance by Watson Marine Engineering.
