Refurbished St Kilda Boat Ramp in South Australia opened
The Mayor of the City of Salisbury, Gillian Aldridge, opened the newly upgraded launching facilities at the St Kilda Boat Ramp on Friday 8 October, which improves the experience and safety for all boat users at this vitally important marine infrastructure site, for the northern metropolitan area of Adelaide.
The project included widening the existing 3 lane boat ramp, by providing an additional lane to increase boat launch and retrieval capacity and reduce waiting times.
The project included short-term moorings and access pontoon along the north bank of the channel, west of the boat ramp to further reduce waiting times and increase safety and amenity for boaters using the boat ramp and accessing the trailer parking area, with a safe pedestrian connection.
George Bolton – BIA SA
Boating Industry Association South Australia Manager George Bolton spoke at the opening on behalf of the boating industry.
He said “we wish the City of Salisbury every success with this upgraded facility and for taking the initiative to commit to this significant project”, noting that funding assistance from the South Australian Boating Facilities Advisory Committee (SABFAC) was provided through the facility fee levy collected by the SA Government from all boat registrations.
